Nihao! My name is Fengyang Ma, and I am an assistant professor in the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) in the School of Education at University of Cincinnati. My research interests center on the Psycholinguistic investigation of bilingualism. I am particularly interested in examining different aspects of bilingual lexical processing with both behavioral and ERP methods. Specifically, I study
- Meaning retrieval of L2 words as a function of proficiency,
- Parallel activation of both languages during L2 word recognition,
- Plasticity of cognitive control mechanisms during bilingual word production, and
- How bilinguals juggle with verbal and non-verbal cues during language processing.
